Course Overview

The CPA is a U.S.-based, globally recognized certification offered by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants(AICPA).

Objectives

THE CPA® PROGRAM HAS FOLLOWING OBJECTIVES:

Pre-Requisites of the Certification

There are 55 states in the US which are offering CPA. Every state has its own criteria of eligibility for CPA. Some states require 120 credit hours, some require 150 credit hours and some even require 24 credit hours in Accounting and 24 credit hours in business subjects. The eligibility depends upon your previous educational studies. However, in general if you are holding any one of the following educational qualifications, then you are eligible for CPA like;

3 years Degree, (B. Com/BBA ) with the following courses:

  • Auditing
  • Taxation
  • Cost/Management Accounting
  • Financial Accounting
  • 3 years graduation in any discipline with Masters (MBA/M. Com) major in Financial Accounting
    Or
  • 4 Years graduation with major in Financial Accounting

CPA Exam

The CPA course culminates with the candidate taking the CPA exam which is considered to be one of the toughest exams in the world. With examination being the required component and a key step in an aspiring CPA’s journey to professional practice, here are the essential points that you must consider before going for the CPA exam.

  • The CPA exam is a computer-based test and is held 4 times in a year (in Jan-Feb, Apri-May, Jul-Aug, Oct-Nov). However, the registration for the CPA course is open throughout the year.
  • To become a licensed CPA, you need to first pass the Uniform CPA Examination that comprises of 4 sections, each of 4-hours exam.
  • The sections are namely, Auditing and Attestation (AUD), Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR), Regulation (REG) and any One of the decipline sections namely Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR), Information Systems and Controls (ISC)and Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP):
  • The candidates have to clear all 4 sections within 18/30* months and earning a minimum required score of 75 on each part.
  • The test will contain elements like Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Task-Based Simulations (TBS) and Written Communication Tasks (in BAR).
